What the extension accesses

When you choose Scan this page, A11yScope reads the structure and computed styles of that one page in order to test it against WCAG success criteria. This is the same information already rendered in your browser.

It uses the activeTab permission, which grants access only to the tab you invoked it on, only at the moment you invoked it. It has no standing access to your browsing, and it cannot read pages you have not scanned.

What leaves your browser

Nothing. There is no server component, no account, no login, no telemetry and no analytics. Scan results exist only in the side panel until you close it.

If you export a report, the file is written directly to your computer by your browser. It is not uploaded anywhere.

What is stored locally

A single preference record in chrome.storage.local, holding your entitlement status (free or Pro). No page content, no URLs and no scan history are stored.

Third parties

None. The extension bundles no third-party code and contacts no external services.

Changes

If a future version changes any of the above — for example if a cloud feature is added — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the release notes.
